Maestro Pavel Kolesnikov (piano) was born in Russia into a family of scientists. He has studied at Moscow State Conservatory, at London’s Royal College of Music with and at Brussels’ Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. Following his Wigmore Hall debut in January 2014, The Telegraph gave his recital a rare five-star review and called it “one of the most memorable of such occasions London has witnessed in a while.” Since becoming Prize Laureate of the Honens Prize for Piano in 2012, Pavel has performed around the world. Pavel made his BBC Proms debut during the summer of 2016 performing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto no. 2 with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland conducted by Ilan Volkov. He will perform Tchaikovsky’s 1st and 2nd Piano Concertos in a UK tour with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, returns to perform with the BBC Philharmonic, and makes his debut with the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera. Abroad, he will perform with the Victoria Symphony Orchestra and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. Pavel will return to the Wigmore Hall in May 2017, and will also give a series of recitals at LSO St Luke’s in London throughout 2016 and 2017.
